- EC3 Story: In high school, I was told that success meant good grades and a clear life plan, but I had neither direction nor certainty about my future. Life quickly became overwhelming: my parents split in 2009, my dad passed in 2010, and by senior year, I faced homelessness. Surviving took priority over everything else—finding a job, a vehicle, and a place to live. College felt out of reach, and by the time I graduated in 2011, I let that dream go.
For years, I worked multiple jobs as the primary breadwinner, feeling stuck despite my efforts. Everything changed when my fiancée encouraged me to apply to Erie County Community College. Hesitant at first, I'll never forget the joy I felt when I was accepted. Enrolling in General Studies allowed me to explore my interests and build confidence. I even became a student worker, which inspired my passion for helping others navigate college.
Now, I'm proud to serve as a College Recruiter in the Admissions office, sharing my story to show others that college is possible. I'm finishing my Associate of Arts and pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Studies, with plans to study Psychology further. Life hasn't been easy, but thanks to my fiancée, classmates, professors, and coworkers, I've found purpose, meaningful work, and hope for the future.
Favorite Spot in Erie: My favorite place in Erie is Presque Isle State Park. The peninsula is perfect for any occasion, whether it's a relaxing beach day, watching a beautiful sunset, fishing, enjoying live music, or simply taking a nature walk or a scenic drive. It attracts visitors from all over, and we're fortunate to have such a gem so close by. I'm also incredibly proud of the conservation efforts that help maintain its natural beauty. - Hobbies:I enjoy music, whether playing piano, spinning records, or filling the house with sound. Writing, especially poetry, is another creative outlet. Self-care keeps me grounded, whether through gaming, relaxing baths, or favorite shows. Evenings are for family—chatting with my sons, enjoying outdoor activities, movies, or working out together.
- Favorite Part about EC3: My favorite part of EC3 is its vibe! The diverse college community is filled with enthusiasm and kindness, with everyone (students, professors, and staff) genuinely caring for one another. It creates an environment where I feel safe, supported and valued.
